  100. This package contains Replicator (TM) Version 1.10 by Stevenson
  101. Technical Services, Inc. (STSI).  This document contains
  102. only a brief description of the package and its features, along
  103. with instructions for its installation.  Quite detailed documentation
  104. is included in the package, but it is in archived form, and is more
  105. easily read after installation.

  107. Replicator is a program designed to take a "snap-shot" of a floppy
  108. diskette, and store the information in an image file.  This image file
  109. contains all of the information stored on the original diskette,
  110. including DOS, directories and sub-directories, programs, and data.
  111. The image file can be stored on a hard disk, and even transferred
  112. over a modem.  When the diskette is needed at some future date,
  113. Replicator decompresses the image file onto a blank (formatted)
  114. diskette, creating a look-alike version of the original.
  115.  
  116. Replicator is a shareware program.  This evaluation version includes
  117. all features of the program, and is not crippled in any way.  You may
  118. use it for up to 2 weeks, without charge (see REPLICAT.DOC for more
  119. details).  If you like the program, and wish to continue its use after
  120. this evaluation period, you are required to pay for the program (see
  121. REGISTER.DOC for more details).  Any fee you may have paid to others
  122. (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation version was a
  123. fee for their copying and distribution services, rather than a payment
  124. for continued use of the program.

  153. ===== Installation =====================================

  155. The installation procedure for Replicator is quite simple.  The
  156. package includes a program, "INSTALL.EXE", which automates the
  157. entire process.  You will need about 1 megabyte of available disk space
  158. on the hard drive on which you plan to install Replicator.
  159.  
  160. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  161. Replicator.
  162.  
  163.  
  164. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  165.  
  166. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  167.  
  168.    o  Place Replicator distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the
  169.       appropriate diskette drive.
  170.  
  171.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  172.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  173.       the MS-DOS command, "a:install".
  174.  
  175.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  176.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  177.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  178.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  179.       the Replicator files to that directory.  If you received
  180.       Replicator on two diskettes, you will need to insert Disk 2 in the
  181.       diskette drive when asked to do so.  If you so direct it, the
  182.       installation program will install executable programs and
  183.       documentation in other directories of your choice.

  186. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  187.  
  188. If you downloaded Replicator from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  189. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  190. following steps.
  191.  
  192.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  193.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  194.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  195.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  196.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  197.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  198.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  199.       the package.

  201.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  202.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  203.       the <product> package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  204.       command, "c:\tempdir\install".

  206.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  207.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  208.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The

  214. When you're satisfied that the installation was successful, you should
  215. delete the temporary directory FROM which you installed <product>
  216. (C:\TEMPDIR, in the above discussion), including all its contents.

  222. (filename extension "doc") which have been installed.  In particular,
